"Who is Tom Leykis?" you might be asking. And for good reason. He's irrelevant now, but yes, here I am writing about him. Because I can.
Tom became "a thing" because radio station KFI AM 640 in Los Angeles needed a "liberal" to balance the legendary and unmatchable Rush Limbaugh. Leykis benefitted enormously from Limbaugh's coattails (and the Fairness Doctrine, IMO), as Limbaugh had the 9am-Noon slot, and Tommy had afternoon drive. Somewhere along the way, Tommy had the luck to get the same agent as Howard Stern, and, as a result, was paid very good money, which he constantly claims to have invested well.
Apparently, that, along with prenups at least in his later marriages, and having all of his children that he knows about aborted, has kept him financially comfortable. And hey, except for the multiple babies he's had slaughtered in abortions because he was apparently, in my opinion based on his own words, too much of a wimp to get a vasectomy even though he knew he didn't want kids, good for him.

Tommy was able to become a very skilled radio talk show host. I'm not denying that. He gave that up, though, claiming radio companies won't pay him what he's worth. After the radio station in which he last had a steady show flipped formats and dropped him, he rode out the remaining years of his contract, which paid him as long as he didn't do shows for another company. After that was over, he did try doing a self-owned live Internet show, with advertisements and subscriptions to access recordings of the show, but surprise, surprise... a man who urged his listeners to save money and not pay for things they could get for free had a hard time getting "enough" people to pay for subscriptions to an on-demand podcast when they could listen live, or listen to the replays, for free.
So, looking at the numbers and barely surviving an illness (according to him), he took the ball and went home. Rather than doing an "appointment" call-in show live, he switched to doing podcasts-only, when he feels like it, and to access those podcasts, people must pay for a subscription. At the time, he vowed to only keep the podcasts available as subscriptions brought in enough revenue (his expenses being reduced from the expenses involved in doing a live, call-in show in a studio with a full staff).
Despite repeated suggestions from his listeners, he never adapted his show to a video format to put it on places like YouTube. He claimed his avoidance was due to the extra costs in doing so as well as content restrictions. You can look up pictures of him and see if you think those really are the reasons.
A guy who had fairly steady work in radio in the 1990s and until 2009 (albeit with having to change employers from time to time) is now obscure. He still craves attention, though, in my opinion. So he tries to upset people on Twitter, especially people who are more well-known and have larger followings than him. It is a ploy to try to get more followers and try to turn some of them into subscribers. He blocks anyone who actually disagrees with him or challenges his erroneous statements. His apparent goal is to get some of the millions of people with more fame than him to respond to his antics so that some of the 99.95% of the world who doesn't know his name will get curious enough to look him up and subscribe.
Maybe he'd get more attention if he got a book published? Ah, well... Tommy, who claims "my word is my bond", back when he was still doing a live show, claimed to have written a book and he said it was with an editor. There was a placeholder for it on Amazon. Then the placeholder disappeared. And there was no book. It's been years.
No book.
Now, Tommy seems especially irritated by people who have been published.
He lashes out on Twitter, his favorite targets being women - especially female celebrities, anyone he thinks might have supported Trump, Republicans, and Christians.
Sadly, Tommy isn't only ignorant about Christianity, which wouldn't be a problem if he didn't make what he falsely thinks are cleverly derisive snipes that reveal his ignorance, but in my opinion he's a political idiot. Or at least he acts like one.
His attempted snipes are often based on hoaxes. And he'd know they were hoaxes if he would read/watch/listen to something outside the echo chamber. Back when people were listening to him, he'd proudly talk about how he'd read the New York Times in grade school. Unfortunately, he seems to have kept reading it and believes what the Times says without actually thinking about it or verifying. On top of that, he considers you ignorant if you haven't read what he's read.
This kind of political idiocy (and rescinding of his word) was exhibited when, in the fall of 2016, he said Trump was irrelevant and he wasn't going to talk about him anymore. He had insisted Trump couldn't get elected. It's almost like Trump's election victory gave Tommy Trump Derangement Syndrome.
While he whines about Leftist policies he helps perpetuate, he's been hiding at his ranch instead of his home within the City of Los Angeles. He has gripes about L.A. leadership, even though that's the kind of leadership people get when they don't vote Republican. Here he is, preferring to be elsewhere, instead of in the middle of what he's helped create, in my opinion. Cognitive dissonance?
At one point, he claimed to be libertarian, if I recall correctly, but that appears mostly to be about smoking pot, as far as I can tell.

On Twitter, he'll frequently say any Republican or Trump voter must be in support of everything anyone who might be a Republican or Trump voter ever does. This is so idiotic. Does Tommy support everything done by any supporter of anyone for whom he's voted? It's like pot smoking has reverted him to thinking like a toddler.
His tweets are ripe for responses, but Tommy blocks people who expose his idiocy. He'll literally pick fights he has no intention of fighting. Pathetically, he'll apparently, in my opinion, snipe at anyone more famous than him, which includes everyone in movies, television, music, radio, most YouTubers, and anyone on the bestseller list. He does this in a desperate attempt to get attention, hoping to convert some of that attention into paid subscribers for his insular little podcast.
Meanwhile, he slides further into obscurity, and is aging to the point he probably, in my opinion, can't manage to effectively perform his own advice about dating. Most of the men who've downloaded his podcasts will delete them as they get married (and drop their subscriptions if they still have them), further eroding what's left of his legacy.
Tommy who???
Tom: Put down the NYT and read/listen to some C.S. Lewis, Thomas Sowell, Walter E. Williams, David Mamet, Charles Krauthammer, George Will, and Victor Davis Hanson.

UPDATE: Here's a perfect example of Tommy being a political idiot.
UPDATE November 29, 20201: Bookless Tommy continues to tweet stupid things and delight in deaths of fellow Americans. What a great guy!
Still no book. Womp Womp!!!
It's an evil thing to say, but it's also stupid, because a lot worse happens in DEMOCRAT California, where Tommy hermits, and especially Leftist Los Angeles, where Tommy has a residence. But Tommy is so desperate for paid subscribers that he does this stuff so he can collect money from people ignorant and evil enough to subscribe to his little podcast after seeing this. He needs customers so badly he appeals to evil people.
Tommy is such a wimp he blocks anyone who doesn't suck up to him. If you want to try it, go tweet to him and ask about his domestic violence charges and/or whatever happened to his book.
This is all MY OPINION, of course. But this isn't. Read what happened with one of his four wives:

Is Tom Leykis as good as Howard Stern was in his prime?
